1. inferior (adjective) lower in rank or value  (inferiority: noun)
He did not understand about this, but it made him feel unhappy, because Kay seemed to regard it as making him inferior in some way. (p. 13)
2. reluctant (adjective) unwilling, resisting, hesitant  (reluctance: noun)
It was reluctant to fire any more arrows because they were valuable things and would certainly get lost in the undergrowth. (p. 21) 
He knew that it had to be borne, however, and got up obediently enough, after giving Cavall a last reluctant pat. (p. 51)
3. ignorance (noun) lack of knowledge, information, or experience  (ignore: verb)
"And I am sorry, boy," said the owl. "I can see that you spoke in ignorance."  (p. 40)
4. regret (verb) to feel remorseful for committing wrongs or making mistakes (regret: noun)
"I bitterly regret that I should have been so petty as to take offense where none was intended." (p. 40)
5. impatient (adjective)  unable to tolerate delay, irritation or opposition  (impatience: noun)
He was one of those people who would be neither a follower nor a leader, but only an aspiring heart, impatient in the failing body which imprisoned it.

6. defender (noun) one who keeps safe from danger or attack  (defend: verb, defense: noun, defensive: adjective)

7. revere  (verb) to regard with awe and devotion, as a superior  (reverence: noun, reverent: adjective)

8. glare  (verb) to stare angrily and fixedly   (glare: noun)

9. ravaged  (adjective) ruined by violence, badly damaged   (ravage: verb)
